The Harvard merit Scholarships for International Students are awarded solely on merit basis.  Below is the list of outside scholarship opportunities for international students.

David W. Lakamp AIA Scholarship

This Scholarship is usually awarded to two students that exhibited strong interest in practice and risk management. The selected students will receive a $5,000 award. please visit their website for more details.

Aga Khan Scholarship

The Aga Khan Foundation scholarship is primarily aimed at providing some form of scholarships to the best postgraduate students from developing countries, who have financial need to further their studies. These Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant: 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year in June or July.

First to be considered are usually requests for Master’s level courses. The foundation is also willing to consider applications for PhD programs, when necessary.

Aker Scholarship

The Aker scholarship program sponsors Norwegian best students in order to help them learn from the world’s best, irrespective of their family or financial status. These Scholarships are awarded to students in all fields of study. Alberta Scholarships Program – Sir James Lougheed Awards of Distinction

These scholarships are for Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.  Applicants must be Alberta residents, and be enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in a graduate program at an institution outside of Alberta.

Students are eligible for two awards maximum only for life. For doctoral degree, applicants must have completed at least one full year of graduate study or a master’s degree.

American Association of University Women

International Fellowships are awarded to outstanding women who are not from the US or permanent residents for a full-time study or research.

American-Scandinavian Foundation

The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) provides over $500,000 scholarships awards to the best of Scandinavian students, to further their studies in the US for up to a year. Applicants are usually recommended to the ASF by cooperating organizations.

American Society of Landscape Architects

The organization provides various programs and scholarships for Landscape Architecture students.

Arab Student Aid International

Arab Student Aid International lists various interest-free, repayable student loans at the graduate and postgraduate levels, without considering religion, gender, ethnic or racial backgrounds.

Architects Foundation

The foundation awards provide various scholarships in dollars to architecture students in NAAB- accredited graduate degree programs, and Architect Registration Exam (ARE) candidates who are working toward becoming licensed architects.

Arts Council of Ireland

Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC)

The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada administers a number of scholarships and internships for Canadian Students.

The Association for Women in Architecture Foundation Scholarship

The foundation provides Scholarship Award to female students who reside or attend school in California and who are majoring in architecture, landscape architecture, urban and land planning, interior design, or environmental design every year.

American India Foundation’s William J. Clinton Fellowship

This fellowship is for applicants are 21 through 31 years of age who are Indian citizens or U.S. citizens/permanent residents and have received their undergraduate degree before the start of the fellowship.

Barrie Foundation

The foundation provides grant programs for Galician citizens.

This scholarship is primarily for a designer who is working towards a career in Interior Design. The Bergmeyer Scholarship provides up to $2,500 funds for Interior Design and Architecture.

Canadian Federation of University Women Fellowships

The Federation lists various fellowships for women from Canadian in either Master or Doctoral level studies.

Centrala Studiestödsnämnden

This program provides scholarship/fellowship opportunities for best demonstrated students from Sweden.

This Foundation lists various scholarship for students from Cyprus and/or Greece.

Diversity Advancement Scholarship

This scholarship is primarily to provide financial aid to students from a minority race or ethnicity who intends to become an architect through the pursuit of a NAAB-accredited professional degree in architecture.

Edmond J. Safra Graduate Fellowship

It is designed to support teaching and research about ethical issues in the professions and public life. The Edmond J. Safra Graduate Fellowships encourages outstanding Harvard graduate and professional students who are writing dissertations or are engaged in major research on topics in practical ethics, especially ethical issues in areas such as architecture, business, education, government, law, medicine, public health, public policy, and religion.

The Foundation lists various aid and travel assistance to best students who has an interest in the field of international real estate or are enrolled in real estate related courses at any accredited university. Frank Boas Scholarship

The Boas Scholarship is awarded to citizens of Belgium or Luxembourg, who are admitted for graduate study at Harvard University.

Iranian Scholarship Foundation

The foundation (ISF) provides scholarships to the best of Iranian students studying in the US, who need significant financial need and are dedicated to community service.

Kennedy Memorial Trust

These Scholarships are for students who are UK citizens that attend MIT or Harvard for post-graduate studies.

Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship

It awards three Fellowships to both U.S. citizens and international students annually. The Application is on their website and is due in early December.

Korean Honor Scholarship

Applicant must be a college or university student in the U.S.A. or Canada and with an overall GPA of 3.5 or above. Other requirements are: an essay, a letter of recommendation, awards, honors, performances, and extracurricular activities. visit their website for more details.

Korean American Scholarship Foundation

The foundation awards scholarship by considering the applicant’s financial need, academic achievement, school activities, and community services.

Every applicant must submit an application to the respective KASF region, in which each region is designated by the state where school is located.

Kosciuszko Foundation Scholarships

The foundation provides a number of scholarships and grants for Poles, Americans of Polish descent, and also exchange programs to Poland and the US, and summer scholarships.

Lambda Alpha International

Lambda Alpha International’s Land Economics Foundation (LEF) awards a scholarship to an outstanding student, who has demonstrated interest in one of the many fields related to land economics: architecture, geography, urban planning, landscape architecture, environmental planning, civil engineering, government, public administration, real estate, urban studies or law.

It has approved the award of a one year $3,000 (U.S.) scholarship, renewable for a second year, to a selected applicant studying in the United States, Canada, or Great Britain.

La Caixa Foundation Fellowships

The foundation offers scholarships to Spanish students for postgraduate studies in North America.

Landscape Architecture Foundation Awards

The foundation provides a number of programs and scholarships for Landscape Architecture graduate and undergraduate students.

 Academic and Professional Programs for the Americas

LASPAU is for exchange programs between the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Luys Foundation Education Scholarship

The foundation offers scholarships to Armenian citizens or Armenian descendants, who are from the ages of 18 through 40 . Students will also participate in the Luys Develop Armenia Program (DAP).

Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund (The World Bank)

These scholarships are for students from third world countries who are currently studying in the United States or Canada. The MMMF awards grants up to $12,000 each; grants are not renewable.

Menzies Scholarship to Harvard

Offers scholarship grants at least one annual award to Australians who are students of Harvard graduate school.

The selected recipients for the Scholarship are Australians whose aims and objective, after completing their studies at Harvard, is to contribute their own quota significantly to Australia’s development.

John R. Mott Scholarship Foundation

The foundation offers scholarships to students who are from the Calabria region Italy, that are enrolled to attend any accredited post-secondary school. They provide scholarships for up to $10,000 in funds yearly.

Noma-Reischauer Prize in Japanese Studies

This Scholarship is awarded for the best essays on Japan-related topics written by Harvard University students; one prize of $1,500 for the best essay by a graduate student.

Oppenheimer Memorial

Oppenheimer memorial scholarships are for postgraduate study at Masters, Doctoral and Postdoctoral level. South African nationals are eligible to apply and candidates with a proven record of academic excellence, with financial need, who intend to pursue careers in academia, research or related fields are first to be considered.

Organization of American States Scholarship Program

It grants scholarships for Master’s Degrees, Doctoral Degrees and Graduate Research leading to a university degree for students from Latin America and Caribbean annually.

P.E.O. International

It offers merit-based awards to women from the US and Canada who are pursuing a doctoral level degree at an accredited college or university.

P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund was established in 1949 to provide scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the United States and Canada.

Rowe Fund

The Rowe Fund is an educational loan program of the Organization of American States (OAS) that encourages citizens from Latin America and Caribbean OAS Member States finance their studies or research in accredited universities across the United States.

It awards interest-free loans of up to $15,000 in funds to financing a portion of their studies in the United States. The Rowe Fund helps students and member countries achieve a lot at same time by fostering cultural diversity, friendship, and communication among the people of the Americas.

SARA Education Fund

The SARA Education Fund scholarship is open to all students attending any accredited school of Architecture. The student scholarship program was submitted to all NAAB Accredited Architectural Schools across the United States and it is awarded annually.

Karen Ann Shopis-Fox Memorial Scholarship

This Scholarship is for legal residents of the State of Connecticut and who is attending any accredited landscape architecture program at the college or university level.

Soros Fellowship for New Americans

New American is a resident who holds a Green Card. A naturalized citizen or the child of two parents who are both naturalized citizens. They must have had more than one IRS filing. The grants are for $20,000. For more details please visit their website.

Sweden American Foundation

It offers 40 fellowships for graduate/post-graduate studies annually to students who are Swedish citizens.

TALENTIA Fellowship Program

These scholarships are awarded to students are of Spain origin or residents in the region of Andalusia applying for postgraduate programs in top tier colleges around the world.

The fellowship program covers tuition fees, living expenses up to 16.000 annually, travel expenses, book expenses, medical and accident insurance for students at masters and PhD programs.

Urban Land Institute Fellowship

The ULI Fellowship offers eight $5,000 scholarships awarded to graduate students, who has demonstrated interest to study real estate-related studies at a major North American university, including urban planning, architecture, business or business administration, geography with a real estate concentration, and real estate law or major. Student must be nominated for this scholarship by faculty.

Vectorworks Design Scholarship

This Scholarship offer is usually open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a design program for the upcoming school year.

Wellesley College Fellowships

Wellesley College lists various fellowships and scholarships for graduate study or research that are open to graduating seniors and Wellesley alumnae.

Women graduates of any accredited American institution are eligible for two of these awards. Awards are made to students attending or applying to graduate school for the following year.

World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program

It provides a number of scholarships, such as the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program, for students who are citizens of countries other than the US.
